Shabby Chic At The Ojai Valley Inn Barn

Jenny and Peter's October wedding at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Barn was one of my favorite weddings of the year. They were such a beautiful, lovely couple and I had so much fun planning their wedding with them. The moment I walked into Jenny's California cottage in Venice Beach, I knew we would be a great fit as our styles were so similar. Her house was filled with vintage furnishings and a shabby chic design. Jenny knew she wanted her wedding casual, yet elegant and fell in love with Ojai Valley Inn's Barn. I wanted to bring Jenny's personal style in to her wedding design and with the help of Mindy Rice Floral Design www.mindyrice.com, we did just that. We created an elegant, shabby chic, vintage style by bringing in custom made linens for the guest tables-each table showcasing a different floral pattern so that the bride would have 12 different table linens to give away as gifts to family or to bring home and topped the linens with a sheer cotton gauze overlay. She was also able to take home the crochet-bordered napkins that Mindy purchased from www.horchow.com. The table numbers were hand-painted tins and the escort card board was backed with floral fabric and covered with chicken-wire. The custom escort cards (which matched the floral pattern of the bride's invitations) were attached with complimentary ribbons. Etched glass lanterns were hung throughout the barn along with cotton gauze draping and uplights to soften and romanticize the space, and Mindy created custom hay bale sofas for the lounge area outside complete with comfy floral pillows and quilts. The dessert table was set on the old wagon in the outdoor lounge area and included a variety of desserts and a beautiful wedding cake all made by the pastry chef at Ojai Valley Inn. It was truly a romantic, beautiful, memorable wedding day!
